BIOGRAPHY:
CIVIC SERVICE - Joe has practiced law since 1974. He believes in serving his community, which is why he has served on the boards of many civic organizations, including his church and the Salvation Army. He is currently active with the Optimist Club, and he is a member of the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce. He is a life member of the following organizations: Huntington County Historical Society, Milford Connecticut Historical Society, I.U. Alumni Association, Reserve Officers' Association, the Air Force Association and Military Officers' Association of America.
MILITARY SERVICE - Joe's father was in the Air Force, so Joe grew up all over the world. He was born at the military hospital at West Point, N.Y., spent part of his early years in England, and went to high school in Tripoli, Libya, North Africa. While in law school, Joe became a member of the Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). In 1973, Joe was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force Reserve, and assigned as a Judge Advocate General (JAG). Joe completed active duty, then moved to Huntington. There he became Chief Deputy Prosecutor and engaged in private civil practice, while he continued his duties to the United States Air Force Reserve. He retired from the Air Force in 2002 after twenty-nine years of commissioned service to his country. At retirement from the Air Force Reserve, Joe was a Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col.) and the Staff Judge Advocate of the 434th Air Refueling Wing at Grissom Air Reserve Base, Indiana. While in the Air Force, Lt. Col. Northrop completed Air War College, Squadron Officer's School, Air Command and Staff College, and received numerous Meritorious Service Medals and other decorations.
Joe married his college sweetheart Lynne. They live in Huntington, and are members of the Trinity United Methodist Church. They have three grown children and ten grandchildren. Joe enjoys restoring his MG cars, working on his farms, spending time with his family, and traveling.
WILLIAM N. MILLS
William N. Mills graduated from the University of Denver, and from Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington. He was Of Counsel to the Northrop Law Office. Mr. Mills passed away on April 24, 2013.
